Today we take pictures of everything we see, from nature to dinner. The camera is integrated into even the simplest smartphone. There is no need to think about how to save valuable space on the film for a standing shot. But despite the tens of gigabytes and photos that are stored in the memory of phones, cameras are still in demand. Manufacturers adapt the models according to the wishes of the customers and equip them according to the latest technical developments. Let’s take a look at how camera construction and design has evolved.
Industrial design studio KLONA will develop industrial design for a camera.
The history of camera body construction
Physicists and chemists have come a long way to have a camera in every home today. Back in the 17th century, astronomer Johannes Kepler carried out experiments on projecting images onto flat surfaces.
However, only the French inventor Joseph Nicephore Niepce managed to capture the picture in the 20s of the XIX century. Asphalt varnish served as a material for fixing the image. Niepce’s invention is considered the world’s first camera.
Physicist William Talbot managed to obtain a negative, which brought the invention to a new level. The first prototype of the camera appeared only 200 years ago. At that time, cameras were made of wood, and they looked like ordinary boxes. The images appeared on plates that were inserted into the back of the case.
We owe a camera with mirrored lenses to the scientist Thomas Setton, who made a real technical breakthrough. The first SLR camera was released in 1865.
The next tangible breakthrough was made by Kodak in the 90s of the XX century, with the launch of the production of film for photographs. But the camera body was still voluminous.
It was possible to reduce the body of the camera thanks to the invention of the 35 mm film. Such a camera has become more convenient to carry with you.
In 1963, instant print photos from Polaroid appeared. In the lower part of the camera body there was a hinged cover for loading a cassette with photographic paper. One cassette was designed for 8-10 color photographs. The finished photograph was extracted through a special slot.
In 1974, the mass production of digital cameras began, which were made from plastic … The main advantage of digital cameras is that you can see photos directly on the LCD screen and send them to your computer. The body usually contains a detachable lens. Digital cameras are divided into categories: professional, semi-professional and amateur.
Types of cameras
This is what the people call the simplest and most affordable model of cameras. In such models there is no manual shooting mode, there is no possibility to change lenses. All control buttons are miniature, except for the main one, with the help of which pictures are taken. It is always located at the top of the model on the right side. The soap dish is easy to operate with one hand.
Compact Ultra Zoom Cameras
This type is essentially the same “soap dish”, but more ergonomic and the body is larger. The main button is moved forward beyond the main body. A wheel for quick mode switching appeared on the top end. The main difference is the built-in retractable lens, while the photo quality does not differ much from the previous model.
The main feature is interchangeable optics, there is an optical viewfinder on which the image is displayed in real time. The size exceeds “Ultrazum” and cannot be operated with one hand. There are more functional buttons on the body of the “SLR” camera.
Industrial design studio will develop a body camera that will attract attention. For many, a camera is not only a way to preserve the moment, but also a source of pride and admiration.
Medium Format Camera
The most expensive type of camera aimed exclusively at professional photography. The body is elongated and resembles a video camera.
Construction of modern digital cameras
Development a modern camera project should be trusted only by professionals with many years of experience. It is important to take into account all the nuances, from the technical component to ergonomics and design. The standard digital camera design is constantly being improved, but the base remains unchanged.
You can order a high-quality development of a 3D model of cameras in the CLONE industrial design studio.
Custom camera design
To increase the massive demand for cameras, in the era of cameras in every smartphone, manufacturers are offering new designs for the familiar device. Let’s take a look at some bold and creative camera models.
Spinner 360 °
The camera captures everything 360 °. To shoot, you need to hold on to the handle with one hand, and pull the ring with the other. The camera will instantly begin to rotate around its axis, filming everything around. The body is made of black plastic and covered with a pattern that prevents the hand from slipping. The upper part of the case is similar to the “Ultra Zoom”, but there is no digital screen on which the image is usually displayed.
The camera is not only of the original design, but also solves an important problem – it allows you to adjust the focus of the image after the shutter button has been pressed. The device looks little like a camera, rather a small telescope in a rectangular case.
There is only one shutter button, the photographer does not need to adjust the sharpness or focus: everything happens automatically. There is a screen on one side of the body and a lens on the opposite side. The basic color of the model is black with a rubberized coating. The design does not look so strict due to the bright plastic inserts.
This model is primarily interesting due to its super miniature size. She is recognized as the smallest in the world: her weight is only 12 grams. In size, it is no larger than a regular flash drive – 43x21x12. The device takes pictures and records videos in HD format. Interchangeable lenses are available for the Chobi model.
The case is black, glossy and fits easily in two fingers. At the back is the screen on which the image is displayed. The shutter button differs in texture from the smooth body, so it is easy to operate blindly.
KidZoom is designed for the youngest photographers – children. They love to take pictures no less than adults, but few people decide to entrust them with an expensive camera. The bright body and the lens made in the shape of a flower will please any child. The camera is rubberized, therefore it is resistant to shock and other mechanical damage. Children will also be pleased that there are several installed computer games on the device.
Liquid Image Explorer
The camera-mask is designed for underwater photography and not only protects the eyes from water, like a regular mask, but also captures what is happening. To take a photo or video, just press the shutter button. The device is made of plastic and works reliably at a depth of up to 20 meters. The lenses of the mask do not fog up, so the photographer always has good visibility. To quickly determine the angle of shooting, there are marks in the form of crosses on the glasses. The camera is powered by batteries.
Externally, the camera practically does not differ from a regular diving mask, with the exception of the built-in camera, which is located at the top. The shutter button is greatly increased in size compared to the standard one. To date, the model is only available in bright yellow.
As you can see, there are many original camera models on the market today. They are not only original, but also of high quality. Contact the studio industrial design KLONA for the development of a stylish and ergonomic camera body.
